Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, is inflammation of the membrane that lines the eye. Common symptoms of conjunctivitis include redness, itching, and drainage from your eye. Conjunctivitis is contagious and can be caused by a viral infection, bacterial infection, or an allergic reaction.

Common conjunctivitis symptoms may include:
- Pink or red color in one or both eyes
- Itching in one or both eyes
- Discharge or excess tears from one or both eyes
- Swelling of the eyelid
- Eyes may become stuck shut or crusting of eyelid or eyelashes that is most common in the morning
